Creative Covers helps indie and self-publishing authors by providing professional book cover design and typesetting
Q: What experience do you have?
A: As well as being a writer and illustrator, I have over thirteen years experience working as a Graphic Designer; ten of which was working for a renowned international advertising company. I also have qualifications in Graphic Design, Art, and Animation.
Q: What if I don’t like my final book cover design?
A: If all avenues have been taken, and you’re still not satisfied, we will refund your deposit. The ball is entirely in your court.
Typesetting deposits cannot be refunded once started.
Q: I’ve seen other designers charging much higher prices. Why are you much cheaper?
A: In recent times the boom of self-publishing and indie book publishers have allowed writers the chance to get their work into the market without going down the traditional route of submitting to mainstream publishers. The average author does not have thousands to spend on expensive design services that the traditional companies use, which in my opinion are simply overkill anyway. I have access to a huge image library, and numerous artists, but I do not have a photography studio, a research and development team etc. thus helping keep costs down.
Q: I have specific designs for my characters, are you are able to incorporate these?
A: If your E-Book cover requires a particular type of person or group of people there will be an additional cost to create these characters in a style of your choosing, based on the complexity. This usually starts at £100 / $150, and a separate quote will be provided for this service. We can always discuss this prior to any work commencing. Generally speaking though, simpler covers are usually better.
Q: Wait, the book cover you’ve sent me is watermarked. Why?
A: Unfortunately, we live in a world where not everyone is so honest. So to protect myself all work is sent low-resolution with watermarks on. Once the final design is approved, sparkling high resolution files will be sent to you without watermarks.
Q: What if I need to resize my book cover in the future?
A: Although unusual, this does sometimes happen, say if authors decide to release again in a hardback version. The covers are produced in massive high resolution files (at least 300dpi) and are fully editable so resizing is not an issue. I will provide free* after sales service to do this for you.
Q: Can I provide my own artwork for my book cover design?
A: As long as it’s of a high enough resolution, of course! This will also be taken into consideration when we talk costs.
